Social Media Releases begin appearing on PRWeb

May 31st, 2007 by Joe

There have been some before it, but the FortiusOne to Launch GeoCommons at Where 2.0 release is the first Social Media Release to fully and boldly embrace the format in its purest form. This means lots of bullet points in groups and less sentences arranged in paragraphs.

Geoff reports he had two challenges with this. First, the PRWeb editor reviewing this release was all too unsure whether this fragmented structure would have much online distribution success. After all, we’ve seen Google News reject release for containing “fragments” all too often. After some conversations with other staff, he came around.

Secondly, the pull quote element we endearingingly refer to as the “Quotables” feature was mangling the copy by forcing it down a narrow channel between the embedded news image and the Quotable graphic. It’s for reasons such as this that both Quotables and the News Image are optional elements and either or both can be disabled on a whim.

There was a lot of buzz around the PRWeb offices as this release came through. Some improvements to the PRWeb platform have been made to better accomodate future releases which make use of the SMR format as Geoff did.
