Don’t be this guy.
Guys – this post is directed to you. Keep your facial hair in check. No one – especially your lady – likes a man who has an untamed mass of hair on his face. Sure, the lumberjack look might impress your buddies in the hunting camp, but the softer half of you life doesn’t want to look or deal with it.
This means you should shave or trim every morning. Yes – every morning. Keep things tidy and impress people with your well-groomed appearance. Do not let laziness creep into your life and prevent you from running a razor over your face.
A mustache should be neatly trimmed. A beard should be kept to a reasonable length – not some wooly mammoth looking creature hanging off of your chin. Seriously, some of these guys in the office look like they have been living in the Australian Outback for the past four months. It is ridiculous! So, bottom line: you need a beard trimmer to keep things in check.
Back hair is something that is not a major issue for most social situations. However, it is important in intimate encounters. Getting at back hair is a tough job for most men. There are trimmers on the market that can help, but I strongly recommend just getting a wax every once in a while. Yep, pulling the hair hurts, but just for a moment. Man up as they say.
Eyebrows are often overlooked, but please keep them trimmed also. Men with crazy eyebrows will not impress the boss, nor find a woman who will spend time with him. The same goes for ear and nose hair. Pluck, trim, shave or whatever you need to do to keep this under control.
Ok, this post is directed toward women’s fashions. Specifically, toward the idea of stylish shoes.
Yes, I know that some shoes can be uncomfortable, but life can be like that. The idea is to make deals and attract the attention of the men in your life. So suck it up and wear the sexy heels and pumps. Here are a few of the more stylish options that are available.
I understand that buying a bunch of different shoes can be expensive. But, shop around. Some of the stores have discount clubs, and of course, there are online options also.
What ever happened to hats? It seems that the idea of a hat – other than a ball cap – has disappeared from the fashion landscape.
At one time, hats were a standard part of the average man’s or woman’s attire. Women wore a great many different hats that ranged from bold to demure to match the outfit. Men tended to wear something more conservative to match a nice suit.
So, what happened to them? I would like to see these make a re-appearance in the average person’s wardrobe. I’ve always thought that a sharp hat was a final touch to a man’s professional attire.
Women’s hats, though rare, still maintain a level of style and elegance that has never really been lost. Princess Kate has definitely made quite an appearance with a variety of hats that have charmed a world. Perhaps she can help restore headgear to its proper place.

Welcome to my blog on appearances: A Tidy Appearance.
I will be offering people tips and tricks on improving how they look when heading out in public. Keeping a good appearance will always make sure that you give the best first impression at work and when heading out to a party or dinner.
This site will not be a “how to apply makeup” blog for women. Rather, it will focus on general ideas on style and appearances for both men and women.
I might be a bit critical towards many men simply because I think men have left behind the ideas of style and good taste. It once seemed to be standard that a man would wear a jacket, tie and hat out to dinner. Now it seems that it is asking a lot just to have a man show up in something other than board shorts, a t-shirt and flops.
